The BARC group has been a part of CMS since 2005. At the moment, the group consists of four professors, three scientific officers, one scientific assistant and one PhD student. In the past the group had been involved in building Silicon Preshower detectors for the ECAL and Resistive Plate Chambers (RPCs) for the RE4 upscope, and is currently one of the leading groups involved with Gas Electron Multipliers for the GE11 upgrade of CMS. Their main physics interests with CMS lie in strange hadron production in pp, pPb and PbPb collisions, energy loss mechanisms of jets in heavy-ion collisions and ultra-peripheral PbPb collisions.
