University of Delhi

The University of Delhi (DU) group has been a part of CMS since 1995, contributing, from 1998 to 2005, to the design, characterisation and delivery of the qualified silicon-strip detectors for the Preshower of CMS. The group has also been involved in a significant manner in the Phase-2 Upgrade of (a) the Outer Tracker system, by working on the design and characterisation of the silicon microstrip detector, (b) the Muon high-eta Upgrade, by designing, assembling, characterising and providing GEM detectors, and © the HCAL Upgrade, by providing optical splitters and working on micro-TCA-based backend electronics. The group’s members have been involved in physics analyses ranging from Higgs-boson searches and measurements to Standard Model physics including direct photon and top quark to model-independent searches and beyond-the-Standard-Model searches such as excited quarks and dark matter.

The group joined CMS under the leadership of Professor RK Shivpuri and there are currently five faculty members involved in different aspects of CMS. Fourteen students have been awarded PhDs degrees working on CMS and another ten students are currently pursuing PhDs.
