Centro Brasileiro de Pesquisas Fisicas (CBPF)

The Rio-CBPF group has been a member of CMS since 2004. The group has two senior professors, two junior professors, one postdoc and two PhD students at the moment. The group has been involved in the CASTOR calorimeter construction and operation, including software development for simulation, database and analysis. Recently the group has participated in the Phase-1 upgrade of the Hadronic Forward (HF) calorimeter, which included firmware development for the front-end boards and production of the system-calibration boards. The group is also active on the development of the CMS-TOTEM Precision Proton Spectrometer project. The group’s main physics topics are Forward Physics, Small-x and QCD, as well as Supersymmetry.
