Institute of High Energy Physics, Beijing

The Institute of High-Energy Physics (IHEP), Chinese Academy of Sciences, Beijing, China joined CMS at its founding in the 1990s. During the construction of the detector, the IHEP group accomplished the production of ME1/2 and ME1/3 EMU CSC chambers, manufactured the MB1 and MB4, produced all the HV boards for the barrel muon system and manufactured the magnet supporting structure. For the Phase-1 Upgrade, the IHEP group has designed and constructed the CPPF system for the Level-1 Trigger system as an in-kind contribution and further work will be continued on Trigger part during Phase 2. For the detector Phase-2 Upgrade, IHEP is participating in HGCAL project in module production, test beam and simulation, and plans to host a silicon module assembly centre at IHEP. The group has strong participation in analysis of Higgs physics, Top physics, B physics and physics beyond the Standard Model, as well as in event modelling.

About

In October 1992, a ‘Letter of Intent’ was submitted to the LHC Experiments Committee (LHCC), offically marking the formation of the CMS Collaboration. This website commemorates the 25th anniversary of CMS, celebrated in 2017.
