INFN Sezione di Catania

INFN Catania joined CMS in 1994. At the moment, the Catania-CMS group consists of one full professor and one research director, two associate professors and one researcher. During over 20 years of activities in CMS, many scientists and young students, some of whom are now involved in other projects or left the HEP communities, were a part of this group. In addition, several technicians have collaborated with the group for many years.

Catania was involved, since the beginning, in all the phases of the CMS Tracker construction and operation. The group contributed to the design and R&D for the current tracker modules and, during the construction phase: Catania was one of the centres for bonding and testing of the TIB/TEC modules, after which it has contributed to the integration, commissioning and running of the detector. Subsequently the group participated in the design and construction of the Phase-1 Pixel Detector upgrade and is currently involved in the design and construction of the Phase-2 Tracker. The group is also involved in the maintenance and running of the current Tracker.

The Catania-CMS group has also had a leading role in the searches for SUSY particles, strongly contributing to the publication of the Physics TDR and, more recently, to several papers on SUSY searches.
