MTA-ELTE Lendület CMS Particle and Nuclear Physics Group, Eötvös Loránd University

The MTA-ELTE Lendület CMS Particle and Nuclear Physics Group hosted by Eötvös University joined the collaboration in September 2015 and at the moment consists of three senior physicists, one postdoc, three PhD students and a number of undergraduate students.

The main physics interests that are being pursued currently are precision electroweak measurements especially of di-boson final states and the determination of anomalous triple and quartic gauge couplings; direct searches for new physics such as Supersymmetry by studying final states with photons and Higgs bosons; soft-QCD physics in particular studies of exclusive processes, particle correlations and search for glue balls; the characterisation of the properties of quark-gluon plasma, in particular via the measurement of Bose-Einstein correlations.

To achieve their physics goals, they are actively involved in the work of the BRIL (Beam Radiation Instrumentation and Luminosity) and the ZDC (Zero Degree Calorimeter) projects and contribute to HLT (High-Level Trigger) system and to electron and photon performance studies.

About

In October 1992, a ‘Letter of Intent’ was submitted to the LHC Experiments Committee (LHCC), offically marking the formation of the CMS Collaboration. This website commemorates the 25th anniversary of CMS, celebrated in 2017.
