University of Notre Dame

The University of Notre Dame has been a member of CMS since 1996. Initially the group’s contributions were to the design, construction and operation of the Hadron Calorimeter particularly the optical read-out. As the number of faculty in the group expanded they have contributed extensively to the Electromagnetic Calorimeter, the Trigger and Offline software. Recently the group has been responsible for the Phase-1 Upgrade of the HCAL optical detector read-out and the design of the Phase-2 off-detector calorimeter readout electronics. In addition the group has maintained a strong involvement in the physics programme focusing on the discovery of the Higgs boson and the investigation of its properties.
