UERJ has contributed to CMS physics analyses in topics such as Forward Physics and B-Physics. They also made contributions to the CASTOR detector, CT-PPS and electronics for HCAL. Since the beginning of CMS, UERJ has contributed with a Tier-2 site. Every two years, the group organises a Summer School (LISHEP) where many results from CMS are presented. Members of the group frequently visit CERN and contribute to several detector services.
As of August 2017, the group has 18 PhD members, eight PhD students, five engineers/analysts of systems.
